On Saturday, November 7, 2026, Ä¢¹½´«Ã½â€™s Fine Arts MFA program will host Open Studios / Open Fields, a one-day, free, public event designed to strengthen connections between artists and non-profit organizations that support them.

Open Studios

Visitors are invited to explore the studios of our MFA students, engage with works in progress, and view a pop-up exhibition in the program’s gallery spaces.

Open Fields: An Artist Resource Fair offers artists from across New York City and beyond direct access to residencies, grant-making foundations, maker spaces, advocacy groups, and alternative exhibition venues.

A Synergistic Event

By hosting Open Studios and Open Fields on the same day, Pratt Fine Arts creates a unique convergence of artistic production and artist support. Visitors can see MFA artists’ works in progress firsthand while also accessing concrete resources to help sustain their practices.

This pairing benefits:

  • Artists who gain direct exposure to resource organizations at a moment when their work is physically present and in dialogue with potential supporters.
  • Organizations that encounter artists in their creative environment gain richer insight into their processes and needs.
  • Visitors and the broader community can move seamlessly between experiencing the vibrancy of contemporary artmaking and learning about the structures that make it possible.

This alignment transforms the day into more than an open studio or a resource fair — it becomes an immersive ecosystem experience that connects artistic vision with the networks, funding, and space necessary to bring it to life.

Open Fields

In galleries adjacent to MFA studios, participating non-profit organizations will share resources, answer questions, and offer practical guidance to help artists sustain their creative practices.

Participating organizations include:

Arts Gowanus, COPE NYC, Dieu Donné, Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, The Fortune Society, Franklin Furnace, The International Studio & Curatorial Program, Latinx Arts Consortium of New York, Socrates Sculpture Park, and Wassaic Project.

Public Programming

Open Fields’ programming invites attendees to engage directly with experts in the field on how artists build and sustain their practices through studio work, community engagement, resource networks, and alternative models of support:

From 12:30 – 1:30 pm, join us in the Performance Lab for a Panel Discussion organized by MoMA’s Public Engagement Department, Making Space for Community: Art, Practice, and Connection.

Artists Cynthia Alberto, Kamau Amu Patton, and Zoë Pulley, moderated by Leonardo Bravo, Director of Public Engagement at MoMA, will discuss exploring their individual artistic journeys and the ways art shapes how we see, create, and connect with one another. Through an exchange of perspectives and experiences, discover how personal practices open up possibilities for dialogue, collaboration, and being in community.

Open Studios / Open Fields will close with a Reception in the Performance Lab from 5:00 – 6:00 pm, with catering furnished by Pixie Scout.
