Biography
Sergio Villanueva Preston is an architectural historian whose research looks at the intersections of architectural theory, gender, and labour, with a focus on how modernist aesthetics mediate cultural and political identities. Drawing largely on queer and feminist theory, his work explores architecture as a gendered and ideological technology, situating design within broader fields of power and social difference. His current project investigates interwar American and European modernism and their entanglements with sexuality, race, and domestic space, reflecting a commitment to transdisciplinary approaches to architectural history and theory.
