Pratt Center for Community Development

By Alexa Kasdan, Chante Ramsey, Janrey Serapio, and Tara Duvivier

Pratt Center for Community Development recently celebrated its 60th anniversary and will be presenting an exhibition showcasing our projects working alongside community partners to build a more just and equitable New York City—from the early days of the community development movement to today’s continued fight for housing, climate, and economic justice.

Our exhibition will include one of our newer projects, "This Used to be a Club: Historical Mapping of NYC Nightlife" supported by the Office of Nightlife to collect data on current and historic nightlife venues and create a database that will contain data useful to policy makers, historians, and others.

A display case showcasing historical materials related to community planning and childcare. The collection includes photographs, newspaper articles, and pamphlets, arranged on a flat surface. Featured items include a booklet titled "Pratt Guide to Planning and Renewal for New Yorkers," various images from community events, and an article about a tour led by Sen. Kennedy. The background shows patterned tile flooring.
